Solutions in Mental Health
Five community mental health agencies partnered with Softcare as participants in the Solutions in Mental Health (SIMH) project to grow their services within their existing base funding, implementing Softcare Solutions. Over the three-year period from 2002-2005, the five agencies provided 12,594 more hours of service to 296 more clients – gains that otherwise would have cost an additional $3.18 million in base funding.
A report entitled, “Time To Care” summarizes the results of the SIMH project. A detailed account of the project and the methodology used to measure productivity in services is reported in “ Teaming with Technology: Increasing Service Productivity in Community Mental Health Services.” The accounting firm of Herlihey Newsome has rendered an opinion on the auditability of the baseline and productivity measures, as well as the monetary value of the gain in services.
The results of this demonstration have impressed several agencies eager to employ their own Softcare Solutions to grow their services for clients. A fund-raising drive of Softcare Institute is underway to enable seven agencies to implement solutions, with the target of serving 1100 more clients per year.
