Softcare CaseManager
Softcare CaseManager, the technology underlying Softcare Solutions, is a client services management tool with a wide range of applications to human service programs. Launched in 1997, CaseManager is widely applicable because it is built around the process of service delivery, which we call the Circle of Care. It is being used by human service agencies providing a variety of human services, including children's and family services, addictions treatment, mental health, income maintenance, employment services and home care services.
CaseManager was developed as a tool for front-line practitioners, with features to support the work of supervisors and managers as well. The underlying premise of CaseManager, and the philosophy of Softcare, is that a service management information system which supports the work of practitioners providing services to clients will provide all the information supervisors, managers and funders require. Thus, the information that supervisors require for case and staff supervision and that managers require for program planning, evaluation and accountability, is generated as front-line practitioners use CaseManager to record their day-to-day activities and time with and on behalf of their clients. CaseManager is a flexible application that can be adapted on site to the particular service programs of an agency without need for custom programming, making it appropriate for virtually any human service agency providing one-to-one services to clients. Softcare® CaseManager has been developed in 4th Dimension to yield a line of highly stable, scalable and adaptable workgroup servers for human services agencies.

CaseManager workgroup servers can support from 5 to 500 users in a variety of configurations accessible on-line across local area networks and the Internet as well as dial-up connections.
CaseManager Roamers can support individual users working on and off line, synchronizing their data with the office servers across a LAN, the Internet or a dial-up connection.
4th Dimension is a 4th generation RDBMS written in C/C++ in France, under continuous development since 1984 and in use around the world. 4th Dimension is a stand-alone application, a client/server database, and a Web application server, presenting a comprehensive development environment with an industrial-strength machine code compiler, and a powerful cross-referencing tool in a cross-platform development environment for Windows and Macintosh.
